so this has just been published in Nature and is the best thing ever

palaeontologists have been studying tyrannosaurus bite-marks on triceratops frills, and have come to this brilliant step-by-step conclusion to explain them:


step one: get a good grip on the neck frill”


step two: tear the head off to expose the tasty neck muscles”

 
step three: nibble on the soft flesh of triceratops’ face”


step four: feast on the delicacies beneath the frill”

Yutyrannus | “beautiful feathered tyrant”

An early relative of T. rex from the Cretaceous period, this gorgeous beastie was about as big and heavy as a large car, and was covered in beautiful filament-like feathers.

my housemate is doing fancy dress for her birthday, with the theme “what you wanted to be when you grew up”. i wanted to be either a dinosaur or a cloud. not sure i have quite enough cotton wool to be a cloud.
