i just found one of the banterous PhD students who used to help us out with practical sessions in first year on facebook, and his timeline photo is him just licking a rock face
like, we always joke that we’ll end up spending our lives licking rocks, but now we have evidence that this really is what geologists do

volunteering at techniquest this week!
super-excited - i’m going to be helping to run an earth science workshop, in which i will basically be making fossils and rocks sound incredibly exciting to a bunch of ten year-olds and helping them with various activities, like making their own fossils and investigating glowing minerals. it’s everyday stuff to me now, but to kids that age it’s magic. i’m really looking...
