owbuggeryowww! i’ve also burned myself on the cooker and shut my fingers in the washing machine & dishwasher recently.. next i’ll slice my hand off while trying to make my boyfriend dinner! anyone got a fire-retardant, padded, knife-proof body-suit lying around? get in touch.
the bad luck fairy loves me recently, haha! in just the last several days my phone’s been stolen, i spilled drink in my keyboard & broke it (using an on-screen one to write this, so slow), and left my shopping on a train! so skilled in being a massive spaz. :’)
i could let all this bring me down, but you know what? first world problems. rather than getting all “fml h8 my lyf” about it, i just stay chipper and accept that stuff like this happens - there are thieves out there, we are all clumsy and forgetful sometimes - and there’s no use whining. i’ve got a new phone on order, i’m taking my laptop for repair on monday, and will keep doing my best to track my stolen phone and lost shopping. it’s no big deal, especially considering much worse things others in the world have to cope with - so laugh & shrug off the little things that go wrong, do what you can to make them better, and move on! we each have a great life to enjoy, and shouldn’t make that hard for ourselves by sweating the small stuff and failing to appreciate what we’re lucky to have ♥
love the fact sherlock and doctor whoare filmed in cardiff uni a lot - forever recognising the sets as places i visit every day, haha! almost as good as the time matt smith, karen gillan and arthur darvill were in my usual lecture theatre ♥
i’ve been on the hunt for a new house & housemates for next year because my current ones are going their separate ways (with new friends, off on placements, etc.), and i’ve found the perfect place and people! two guys and a girl, all absolutely lovely - and two pet bearded dragon lizards. they are the cutest things in the world and apparently sit on your head when you’re studying - i can’t wait to help look after them! it’ll be great to have a change of scene with some completely new people as well - roll on september! ♥
my first week back at uni’s already over - and ohmygiddygod’spyjamas, it was utter madlibs. twenty-two hours of lectures and pracs, extra reading and note-taking every evening until bedtime, and the earliest starts. i need to nap so badly right now, but if i get my assignment and today’s notes out the way tonight (and make a pasta bake, mmm) i’ll have the next couple of days totally free to spend with mah boy. yes please! ♥
already well-settled-in thanks to the help of my boyfriend, a serving of pasta, a hot mug of cocoa and several hilarious episodes of an idiot abroad with my housemates! unpacked, fairy lights on, warm double bed, lie-in tomorrow, and everything smells nice & fresh - WINNING! ♥
i told you all about this incredible guy a while ago, when he first started his mission to share the funny side of his disease with the world - and his inspiring positivity has made such an amazing impact! in just the last few months he’s gained a vast following here on tumblr for his blog, laughing at my nightmare (follow him right now), and is starting to make much bigger news (you have to watch that!).
shane’s been wheelchair-bound since he was two; and though even many menial tasks are pretty much impossible for him to tackle alone, he’s more positive and motivated than most people i know. in an age when teens and young adults seem to have so much to complain about, it’s pretty damn poignant to be able to click onto shane’s blog and see how positively he copes with his life and the struggles he has to face from day-to-day, able to make even desperate situations hilarious. it’ll turn your outlook right around.
he’s started up a non-profit to fund muscular dystrophy research, and if you’ve got any spare cash lying around please consider putting it towards this worthy cause. you can buy an awesome wristband here, or donate directly to the non-profit here! ♥
ice skating was mucho successo! i’ve never been able to do it before; all my previous trips to the ice rink involved just clutching the side and pulling myself along like an absolute tit. but with a lot of help from batman, i was able to let go of the side and do actual skating things with my legs, even if i had to hold his hand most of the time! i went quite fast and there was a lot of squealing involved, but we had the rink pretty much to ourselves so it was loads of fun and i didn’t kill anybody.
so thank you, batman, for taking the time out of your busy schedule saving gotham to teach me how to ice skate! c; ♥
when i was in ireland a few years back my brother and i were watching their kid’s channel on the tellybox. when a cartoon (designed for children aged about eight) finished, it switched back to the presenters, who greeted viewers with cheerful irish smiles and said something i’ll never forget.
"now did you like that, children, or was it a bit shite?"
i’ve always been terrible at it, but i’m determined to do at least one unsupported lap of the rink! c:
i will be like bambi on the ice to start off with - i just hope the other people there are fantastic skaters who can get out of the way quickly, or i will probably injure them fatally. maybe i will be allowed to have one of those support penguins to hold onto like the toddlers get? either way, i can’t wait! ♥
no matter how much everything’s changed for us over the last two years, we can still frolick around in the rain by the castle and annoy innocent people with lasers like no time has passed at all. soppy post for jacob and steph because i love them a lot, and i hope they know how irreplaceable they are. ♥
