okay, so we have a few more in summer than other people - but it means that a “productive day” for me right now involves training my pokémon, making yummy meals, doing a spot of yoga and drinking about ten mugs of tea. no complaints there! ♥
she’s some relation of ours, but we’ve barely ever seen her - she breeds those silly little white bichon frise dogs and enters them in dog shows like crufts. every single christmas we get a card from her containing the latest photographs of her prized dogs in their silly little show-outfits and bow ties, looks of blissful empty-headedness on their fluffy faces from years of inbreeding. they look so idiotic that we can’t even find them cute, but out of politeness we keep hold of every picture. now we have this great big collection of photos of silly little dogs we have never met, and in a bid to make it stop we’re just going to have to send her back some pictures of our cat licking her arse.
a handful of my sweet gifts this year! soap & glory cosmetics, pretty pens, cath kidston make-up bag and warm socks, a cute trinket tin and a photoframe with a cupcake picture in (which my mum put together as a decoration for my room).
i also received a bit of money, a couple of gift cards, pink hiking socks, two uni course books, chocolates.. and a gorgeous yamaha acoustic guitar! it’s three-quarter size, so it’s perfect for me. so happy!
time for my big christmas dinner with all the trimmings - i hope you’re all having a great day, however you’re celebrating! ♥
Do you mind sharing some study tips? Your exam grades look really nice and I was wondering if you had any methods or tricks that could possibly help the struggling students of tumblr.
sure thing, i’d be happy to! c:
start early. it’s so easy to keep telling yourself exams are ages away, but this soon turns into denial as they creep closer! make sure you’re well on-target all the time by regularly revisiting what you’ve learned when you have some free time. refreshing throughout the year means that you don’t have to completely re-learn everything in a panic during those few weeks in the run-up to exams.
convert your notes into something more readable. once you’ve made sure your notes are complete (and supplemented them with further reading if you need to), read through and highlight the most important concepts and points. you can then transfer these highlighted parts onto lined record cards, which means you’ll have a condensed and clear set of notes to flip through when your exam is close. if you need to learn any diagrams, or could create a diagram to represent concepts you need to learn (like a flowchart), make a big version and stick it on your wall.
in those few days before an exam, try to re-write what’s on each flashcard from memory. try out a couple of past papers to find out what your weaknesses are, and focus on those a little more so that you feel confident you can give every question a really good shot.
in cardiff last week you couldn’t step out of the house without nearly freezing to death, no matter what you wore - but today when i went to town with my mum, we didn’t even need coats! the sun was all shiny and warm, and temperatures were at the kind of level we had in october. very weird indeed for the shortest day of the year!
but i’m definitely not complaining about the lack of snow this christmas; for the last two years we’ve had so much that we couldn’t even leave the house, which sucked in terms of socialising and getting hold of supplies. hopefully with a “green christmas”, i’ll be able to actually see everyone! ♥
kim jong-il, bin laden and gaddafi all died this year. maybe team america does exist?
some fun facts about the late dictator:
his birth was apparently prophesied by a swallow and heralded by a double rainbow (right across the sky).
his all-time favourite films included rambo, friday the 13th, godzilla and "the eternal bosom of hot love".
he spread a legend that he could control the weather with his moods.
also, i’ve just realised those three dictators all died at age sixty-nine. there’s a “27 club” for musicians who died aged twenty-seven, but the “69 club” for dictators doesn’t give a very nice mental image..
i haven’t been wearing my contact lenses for the last three months, and just got a new batch sent through. i put some in yesterday and accidentally wore them to bed.. so i woke up this morning thinking my eyesight had been cured magically overnight and got all excited for a minute
i see countless posts in retaliation to the usual ‘skinny’ media about how women “should” be curvaceous, how they’re beautiful when they’re bigger, how being able to see a girl’s hip/shoulder bones is “wrong”, and so on - i’m sure you’ve seen it all, too.
celebrations for chelsea's no-longer-a-teenager-crikey-where-did-time-go event were absolutely wunderbar! i'm nursing a bit of a tequila/whiskey/cocktail/cider/malibu/vodka hangover today (only spent fifteen quid - bargain), but i still managed to get the rest of my christmas shopping done and cleaned the entire house - and i possibly had the best wake-up alarm ever this morning. ♥
i feel absolutely gross from lack of sleep and sitting in the same position for almost twenty-four hours in the study centre with my friend emma, but it was so worth it! main assignment: done and dusted to an epic standard. it was almost like a cute little earth science sleepover, since other people from our course were camping in there to get work done as well. now i can relax a little before my tests, whay! ♥
finally saw 'interview with the vampire' last night
how did it take me so long to watch such a classic? now that’s what i call a vampire film (and book - thank you, anne rice)! if you’ve never seen it, please, please do. nerve-thrilling and spine-chilling. ♥
i love friday nights; not because i go out clubbing, oh no (friday’s not really a student night anyway) - it’s the brilliant tv shows that i get to snuggle down in bed and catch up on, with the cosy knowledge that i can have a lie-in in the morning! so, QI, live at the apollo, russell howard & sir david attenborough - amaze & amuse me. ♥
i bought myself some of that delicious-smelling cocoa-butter formula hand cream today, to soothe the remnants of my burn and to banish the dry skin that often comes with cold weather; and guys, it’s amazing. i’ve only applied it twice today and my hands (and feet - you can use it on any dry skin) are still as soft as a baby’s arse. definitely getting the full-body cream so i can always smell like, and be as soft as, velvety melted chocolate! ♥
